Writing Prompt Wednesday: Mary Carroll Moore

carrollmooreIn honor of July’s Camp NaNoWriMo (a less frantic 30 day writing challenge – once in April and again in July), I’m sharing an email pep talk that I received from author and writing teacher Mary Carroll Moore. I took a workshop from Mary a few years ago at a NH Writer’s Project conference and really like her story structuring methods – it was from her that I first learned about the “W” structure and writing “islands” or “snowflakes” (she explains that on her site and in her book, “Your Book Starts Here”) Here’s an entry about sifting through that mess of a first draft – and how much creating a map can help (how perfect for Camp is that??)
