Hooking Your Reader with Your First Line

Check out this very insightful post by a writer friend, Wendy Thomas, on NH Writers Network.  Her first line would make a really interesting writing prompt, don’t you think?

I hold them gently and whisper a soft apology before I slit their throats.

    I just read your wonderful post “If Wishes Were Books…” and yes, we seemed to have come to a similar place in the writing of our essays. Congrats on your win–and P.S. I’ll be thinking about that line all day. Because absolutely–it’s a killer prompt. Um, no pun intended. 😉
